Anthony W. Moore, MSS/LSW, M.Div.
T: 215-740-0539
Anthony W. Moore is a licensed therapist and ordained minister who believes in an eclectic blend of existential, spiritual, psychological and a systemic approach to therapy. With over 30 years of working with families, couples, children and groups, Anthony has seen how the healing powers of spirit, wisdom, and relationship bring about wholeness and health to broken and fragmented relationships.
A man of deep faith and quiet wisdom, Anthony believes that when you take the first step to seek help and support, you are already on the path to empowerment and healing. This first step can be the catalyst to inspire you to take the next step in the mysterious journey of life.
The core tenet of Anthony’s framework for healing and change centers around the collaboration between the therapist and client and their shared engagement in the process of courageous vulnerability and change. In essence, Anthony believes that nothing changes, if nothing changes. The process of change and healing involves the therapist promoting a synergistic, dynamic relationship of trust, exquisite listening, vital learning, unmitigated presence, and whole-hearted acceptance.
As an African-American male, Anthony is sensitive to the hidden and not so hidden injures of racism, trauma and the systemic ways individuals and families can be objectified, marginalized, and perceived as “other”.
Anthony graduated from Bryn Mawr College’s School of Social Work and Social Research with a Master of Social Service (MSS) degree, and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree. He served for 19 years as the pastor of a local Baptist church in the Philadelphia area. He is the author of the book “The Dangerous Journal of a Baptist Preacher,” a reflective work that encapsulates his contemplative way of being and living— “Esse Quam Videri”—"To be, rather than to seem.”
